About Liz Tamasi
A New Jersey native, Liz is a proud product of the Garden State public school system. She and her husband are parents to two children, ages 14 and 12, both of whom have attended our local public schools.
Liz has dedicated her life to improving the lives of others. She began her career in Washington DC working on public health education campaigns on behalf of global companies. She later obtained a Master of Social Work and worked at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
While at Johns Hopkins, Liz was Director of Oncology and Center for Patient and Family Services, National Capital Region, at the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital. She led administrative and patient centered operations across the Cancer Center and at the off-site community clinics. She authored the proposal, obtained funding and operationalized the Center for Patient and Family Services (CPFS), which includes social work, navigation, survivorship, nutrition, financial counseling, and spiritual support, essential components of the cancer programs at Sibley and Suburban Hospitals, and at the Johns Hopkins Cancer Care Clinic at Unity Health Care. To ensure CPFS program efficacy and sustainability, she created metrics to track treatment compliance and patient outcomes. Budget development, oversight and staff management were key components throughout her 14-year career at Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Liz has played an active role in Mendham Township. She currently serves as Walk Chair of the Mendhams Stigma Free Task Force, which aims to eradicate the stigma associated with mental health and substance use disorders. The annual Stomp Out the Stigma Walk has raised more than $25,000 over the last four years allowing the Task Force to fund, develop and participate in a variety of wellness and education programs benefitting our schools, seniors, Borough and Township residents and families.
Liz is a founding member and served as President of the reinvigorated Mendham Township Education Foundation (MTEF). Under Liz’s leadership MTEF filed and received 501c3 status, recruited additional Board members, created a website and designed a ‘Founding Partners’ fundraising campaign.
Liz is also a co-founder of the Chester-Mendham Angels – a non-profit organization serving Chester and the Mendhams, dedicated to making a sustainable difference in our communities by lending time and resources to assist and support local residents in need. The Chester-Mendham Angels fundraising initiatives have enabled the organization to sponsor and support programs and services benefiting residents of the Chester Area Senior Housing (CASH) and Mendham Area Senior Housing (MASH) and members of the Mendham Seniors Club.
